On Your Mark, Get Set...

Since Trout Season opens in New Jersey on Saturday, I am declaring an end to the cold, nasty weather effective immediately.

I hope everyone who attended, enjoyed this year’s banquet. We had 150 guests and Tom indicated that we raised a little over $5K. My thanks, again, to all who helped make the banquet a success.

Again this year several chapter members, led by Ed Sinning, are float stocking the Flatbrook Fly Stretch each week during the stocking season. Thanks to all who participate.

Things are continuing to move forward with the Sparta Glen Project. Under “Projects”, you will see a letter from Sparta’s Environmental Committee recommending a “go ahead” to the Town Council. Hopefully we will have final town approval on April 14, after which we can initiate several fund raising activities.

On March 18th, Darren and I did our first scripted library presentation on “Introduction to Fly Fishing” in Pequannock. It was well received. Darren Rist and Ed Sinning are scheduled to do the Parsippany Library on April 7.

Please don’t forget the Flatbrook Clean up on April 25th and the Rockaway River Clean up on May 16th.

Finally, our speaker for the membership meeting on April 18th is Chris Lido. Chris is the editor of “The Fisherman” magazine. Our speakers in May are Cathy and Barry Beck. The Becks are a couple who have” lived the dream”, and will be sharing some of their worldly fishing experiences and photography with us. Don’t miss this evening.
